How to Connect Your Dirs21 API to CockpitShop
Connecting your Dirs21 account to a CockpitShop module takes less than 5 minutes once you have your API key ready. This guide walks through every step, including where to find the API settings inside your Dirs21 account.
Before You Start
- You need an active Dirs21 subscription that includes API access. If you are unsure, contact Dirs21 GmbH support.
- You must be an administrator on your Dirs21 account (not a restricted user).
- You need an active CockpitShop account — created automatically when you purchase a module.
Step 1: Access Your Dirs21 Account
Go to app.dirs21.de and log in with your Dirs21 administrator credentials. If you have forgotten your Dirs21 password, use the "Forgot password" link on the Dirs21 login page — CockpitShop cannot help with Dirs21 account password resets.
Step 2: Navigate to API Settings
In your Dirs21 dashboard, go to: Settings → API Access (or Einstellungen → Schnittstellen in German). The exact menu path may vary slightly between Dirs21 versions. If you cannot locate it, try Settings → Integrations → API.
Step 3: Generate an API Key
Click "Generate API Key" (or "API-Schlüssel erstellen"). A dialogue will appear asking you to set permission scopes. For most CockpitShop modules, you need at minimum:
- Reservations: Read
- Rates: Read + Write (for Revenue Manager, OTA Sync Pro)
- Rooms: Read
- Guests: Read (for Guest Messaging, CRM Connector)
Copy the API key immediately after generation — it will not be shown again.
Step 4: Enter the API Key in Your CockpitShop Account
Log in to your CockpitShop account at /login. Navigate to the module you want to connect, click "Connect to Dirs21", and paste your API key. Click "Save and Test Connection". A green confirmation message means the connection is successful.
Step 5: Verify the Connection
On the module status page, confirm that the Property Name field shows the correct property name from your Dirs21 account. If it shows an error, check that the API key was copied in full (they are typically 40+ characters) and that the correct permission scopes are set.
Troubleshooting
"Invalid API key" — The key may have been copied incorrectly or may have been revoked. Generate a new key in Dirs21 and try again.
"Insufficient permissions" — Your API key is missing one or more required scopes. Edit the key in Dirs21 Settings → API Access and add the missing scopes.
"Property not found" — Your Dirs21 account may have multiple properties. Contact support@cockpitshop.org to configure property selection.
